2010 Winter Update
Dear Members, February 2010
I would like to update you on the work of our Board of Directors during the off-season.
After two rounds of interviews the Search Committee, charged with finding a new Pro/Manager, narrowed the number of applicants from thirteen to four. Our club was fortunate to have an excellent selection of applicants from which to choose. The final four applicants all possessed qualities that would serve our club well. The Board chose the candidate that best fit the needs of our club.
The Board hired PGA Pro Ryan McDonald to a two-year contract. Ryan has ten years experience as an Assistant/Head Golf Pro. He spent the last two years working as Assistant Golf Professional at Nantucket Golf Club, Nantucket, MA. Ryan is a native New Englander, with a welcoming personality. He has many job skills that will be an asset to our club. Please take a moment before your first round of the year to stop by the pro shop and say hello to Ryan.
The Board of Directors also hired Josh Fleurrey to a two-year contract as Chef and Manager of Food and Beverage services. Our members and guests can look forward to another year of delicious menus. We hope our membership takes full advantage of our Food and Beverage service. Your continued patronage helps keep this service available. We hope to attract various groups and/or businesses that want to have special events at our club.
Course Superintendent, Denny Barney, will continue to keep our course well maintained for the 2010 season. He and his staff provide our members and guests with playing conditions that rival any course in Vermont.
The cost of operating Northfield Country Club continues to increase. The Board has decided to increase our membership dues and greens fees this year. This was a very tough decision considering the difficult economy.
We know the key to Northfield Country Club's success is preserving our best asset, our superior 9-hole course. The Board of Directors and Management are dedicated to that task. We will strive to continue operating our club as efficiently as possible.
I look forward to a fun and successful 2010 NCC Golf Season!
Randy Miller
President, Northfield Country Club
